Have you had a stressful day (or year)? It’s early evening. All you want is to draw a bath, relax, and unwind. If you’re like me, you’ll be lighting a scented candle, of course, but which one? May I make a recently-trademarked suggestion? Try a Dumpster Fire Candle. At a minimum it will make you smile. Or, it might remind you of some “dumpster fire” you’re trying to forget, in which case it might make you cry a little.

What exactly is a dumpster fire? Urban Dictionary defines a dumpster fire as “a complete disaster.” It’s also defined in the Merriam-Webster dictionary. And now it’s a registered trademark.  A trademark for “Dumpster Fire Candle” was registered by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on February 20, 2018. The trademark is being used with, you guessed it, candles that look like dumpster fires. The trademark was filed by an individual in Raleigh, North Carolina. They have a web site as well as an Etsy shop.

The Etsy store states that “novelty candle [was] inspired by the dumpster fire that was 2016… and 2017. … Light it to cleanse yourself of a personal or social dumpster fire.” The product scents include “Resting Beach Face”, “Puff Puff Pass”, and “You Ruined Christmas”. You’ve probably now had a few people come to mind that could use this candle. At the time I posted this article, the candles were $12. There are only a few left so if you want your own dumpster fire candle, hurry.
