Applying to Film Festivals with The IP Section Pilot Episode and the My Dream’s a Joke Documentary
When things didn’t work out looking for an agent, Wes decided to submit “The IP Section” pilot episode and “My Dream’s A Joke” (documentary) to a couple film festivals to see what would happen. Both shows were accepted by the first festival they were submitted to, iTVFest. Although they didn’t win any awards, they were so well received by the audience it seemed like a good idea to submit the shows to a bunch of other film festivals and see if anything came of it. Here Wes and Jessica (a producer) take you through the ups and downs of applying to all the festivals
- iTVFest,
- NYTV Festival,
- Seattle Film Festival,
- Cinequest,
- SXSW,
- Tribeca Film Festival,
- Aspen Shorts Fest,
- SF Indie Fest,
- NexTV,
- Palm Springs International Shorts Fest,
- Slamdance,
- Ann Arbor Film Festival and
- SeriesFest.
There was a lot of anticipation, only to have one show accepted at one other festival, My Dream’s A Joke screened at SF Indie Fest. Three out of 26 isn’t bad, right?
